DAVIE4 is DAF-derived factory software for PACCAR's own engines. It is the only tool that programs MX-11/MX-13 ECUs, and paired with ESA it covers the whole truck. This page separates the two platforms clearly — most sellers don't.
What PACCAR DAVIE4 can do
- MX-11/MX-13 full diagnostics — read/clear, guided tests, aftertreatment service.
- ECM programming & calibrations for MX engines (DAVIE4 exclusive).
- PX-7/PX-9 support — though Cummins INSITE covers these equally well.
- Injector coding and fuel-system tests on MX common-rail.
- Forced DPF regen and SCR/DEF service routines.
License tiers and what each unlocks
| Tier | Price | Unlocks | Who needs it |
|---|---|---|---|
| DAVIE4 | $1,450/yr | All MX/PX engine functions including programming | KW/Pete engine work |
| ESA | $495/yr | Cab, chassis, multiplex, instrument cluster | Full-truck diagnostics |
System requirements & supported adapters
Windows 10/11 Pro, 8GB RAM, and an RP1210C adapter — PACCAR certifies the Nexiq USB-Link 3 and its own VCI-560. J2534 passthru devices do not support DAVIE4 programming operations.
Installation: DIY vs pre-configured
DAVIE4 activates through PACCAR's ePortal — account setup, license assignment and the initial activation are the steps where DIY installs stall. We handle the ePortal registration as part of every remote install. Walkthrough: DAVIE4 install guide.
Renewal cost and what happens if it lapses
Both DAVIE4 and ESA renew annually at the same rates. PACCAR's ePortal makes mid-year laptop changes possible without a new license — one of the more flexible OEM policies.
Frequently Asked Questions
DAVIE4 vs ESA — which do I actually need?
Engine work: DAVIE4. Electrical, cab and chassis issues: ESA. Shops doing full-service KW/Pete work need both; engine-only shops can start with DAVIE4 and add ESA later.
Can DAVIE4 program a replacement MX-13 ECM?
Yes — ECM programming and calibration are standard DAVIE4 functions and a key reason it cannot be replaced by multi-brand tools for MX work.
Does DAVIE4 work on DAF trucks?
The software is DAF-derived and will connect to North-American-spec PACCAR vehicles. DAF (European) coverage uses the same platform but different licensing — ask us if you service grey-import DAFs.
